Kanisha Wilson, MS, LPC, CCTP
Kanisha is Licensed Professional Counselor n the Commonwealth of Virginia. She earned her Master of Science in Counseling at San Diego State University with a concentration in Multicultural Community Based Counseling and Social Justice. Kanisha’s career focus is on multicultural high-risk communities and improving the mental health functioning impacting adults, adolescents, and families. She believes a person’s past does not have to determine their future, and passionately believes that recognizing the similarities and differences of mental health needs of every population is important to understand and grasp the various ways a person processes and maintains their mental health. Kanisha assists individuals and families in developing positive communication, improving social and school functioning, enhancing constructive social interaction, emotional regulation, and creating and implementing coping skills. She uses multiple therapeutic approaches when working with clients including multicultural, CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, experiential, EMDR, psychodrama and others.
